Hello, beautiful souls.
Today, I want to talk to you about a topic that’s been on my mind a lot recently – the essential roles of rest, disconnection, and taking breaks in our lives. Life certainly knows how to keep us on our toes, right? Between work deadlines, family responsibilities, and personal goals, we often find ourselves running on fumes before we even realize it.
Recently, I noticed myself feeling a little bit like a hamster in a wheel – always moving, but somehow not getting anywhere. I’lI woke up feeling exhausted, despite just having slept. What was worse was that I was not conscious of this exhaustion at all.
My reactions became more defensive, I started craving unhealthy foods (sugar is my Achilles’ heel), nothing seemed to function correctly, and for some inexplicable reason, I kept reassuring myself that I was okay. It wasn’t until one particularly anxious morning that the universe stepped in. Forced to fly back home, I found myself in a position where disconnection from stress was unavoidable.
In that moment, I came to a realization – rest isn’t synonymous with laziness. That guilt and those scenarios we build in our heads, projecting that we aren’t doing enough or helping others enough, are just that – mere scenarios!
Dear friends, rest is refueling. It’s a time when our bodies heal, our minds process, and our spirits relax. And disconnection? It’s a welcome reprieve, a sanctuary away from the relentlessly awake digital world.
Embraced by silence, I find my thoughts become clearer. I’ve discovered a peaceful rhythm in my day – a leisurely breakfast, a slow-paced walk, time set aside for journaling, and even a nap. For the first time in a while, I went to bed feeling genuinely tired, but in a good way, and woke up feeling truly refreshed.
Incorporating rest and disconnection into our lives doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Here are a few minor adjustments that have made a significant difference for me:
- CREATING BOUNDARIES –designating specific times for work and personal life can help maintain a healthier balance.
- DAILY DIGITAL DETOX – even an hour of tech-free time each day can clear your mind. It’s surprising how much more time you’ll find when you’re not constantly checking your phone.
- QUALITY SLEEP -prioritizing a good night’s sleep has made a world of difference to my energy levels and overall outlook on life.
- NATURE WALKS -for me, being outside, feeling the sun on my face and the wind in my hair, is the perfect tonic. Nature has a remarkable way of putting things into perspective.
Now, beautiful souls, I’m not saying it’s easy, and I’m not claiming to have figured it all out. But setting aside some time to listen to your body, disconnect, and reset each day serves as a reminder that we are human beings, not human doings.
I encourage you to try it – take a break. It’s not selfish; it’s self-care. Remember, it’s the quiet moments, the small acts of kindness we show ourselves, that can make the biggest difference in our lives.
Until next time, be kind to yourself, and remember to #stayinyourmagic.
